It will act as a host for professionals, academics and networking partners, venture capitalists, entrepreneurs and technology administrators.
The centre’s main objective is to understand and develop processes and policies that with help ICT businesses in Cornwall add to the Knowledge Economy and local, domestic and international trade.
The Omega ICT business cluster will be able to link closely to the future ICT needs of Cornwall. Areas already identified as necessary to compete successfully in the global marketplace include:
* Media (including TV and film production)

eProcurement is fast becoming the main way that large organisations are selecting, ordering and paying for their goods and services.
Organisations such as the County Council, District Councils, NHS and Police have acquired, or are in the process of acquiring, eProcurement systems. Furthermore, the change is inevitable - central Government have an eGoverment agenda, part of which addresses the need for eProcurement across the public sector.
eProcurement represents both a threat and an opportunity to the Cornish business base. Not keeping up will mean our business base will loose vital orders to out of county suppliers who are ready to take orders using e-procurement systems. And by building a solid base of enabled businesses in Cornwall, there will be opportunities for our businesses to win more sales both within the county and beyond.
The eProcurement project will help Cornish business make the most of these opportunities. It will build an electronic marketplace capable of interfacing with the eProcurement systems of the major buyers within the county, and by adhering to standards will enable the marketplace to be visible to systems beyond the county. Leading to more business for Cornish businesses.
