Lizard Pathways

Project Overview

Established in 2001 Lizard Pathways has a proven track record in successfully delivering Jobcentre Plus, Learning Skills Council and European Social funded projects.

Lizard Pathways has provided over 1000 jobless individuals across Cornwall with quality Information, advice and guidance on returning to work as well as practical support with the costs of transport, childcare, clothing, equipment and assistance with bridging the gap between benefits and first wage.  55% of those supported entered sustainable employment.

The project aims to support those ‘hard to reach’ and beneficiaries are from a diverse range of backgrounds including people with disabilities or health problems, lone parents, homeless/NFA, people with drug/alcohol problems, young people and ex-offenders.  70% of the beneficiaries engaged by Lizard Pathways are on long term health related benefits, lone parents, NEET or ‘hidden jobless’ non benefit recipients.

Lizard Pathways is hosted by Cornwall Enterprise, Project Development Division and employs a team of 5; John Brydon (Project Manager), Matt Birchall (Assistant Manager), Susan Richards (Facilitator), Steve Harry (Facilitator) and Alan Woollard (Skills Coordinator).  All staff have backgrounds and qualifications related to Teaching, Training, Youth Work and Benefit Advice.
